Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Technician III role focuses on photography and video production to support Lone Star College-University Park's marketing and communication goals. The position operates at the campus level, collaborating with internal partners to capture and produce high-quality visual content for various platforms, including campus presentations, internal/external marketing, press releases, campus social media, and campus web pages as well as community events including Heart Walk.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes professional-grade photo and video gear, including Canon EOS R5 C and Canon EOS R5, as well as DSLR cameras to capture event photos or video across a range of styles and subjects including campus headshots, marketing photos, and campus stock photo images, and video interviews
- Develops and executes video projects from concept to delivery including ideation, storyboarding, scheduling, and conducting interviews, filming, production sound/audio design and mixing, color correction, motion graphics creation
- Edits and assembles video footage to include text, music, images, and graphics for video projects primarily focused on programs of study, student success, and engagement
- Encodes and transcodes video content to deliver final formats including HD for website/online,
- Edits and processes photos
- Catalogs photos and video content, ensuring efficient department access to archived materials
- Coordinates video shoots with students, faculty, staff, or campus partners. Ensures model releases are signed
- Works with Coordinator II, College Relations on event and headshot scheduling for campus projects and new hires
- Works closely with department leadership to align activities with strategic goals
- Revises projects as needed and finalizes approvals for ultimate deliverables
- Assists Social Media Manager with 360 photo booth set up
- Maintains video and camera equipment to ensure proper functioning
- May develop expenditure plans as directed by supervisor and obtains necessary equipment quotes from vendors
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Skills in video production (writing/storyboarding, producing, shooting, and editing)
- Knowledgeable in high resolution still photography including video lighting techniques
- Superior ability to utilize professional-grade photo and video gear, including Canon EOS R5 C and Canon EOS R5
- Excellent knowledge of both video and photo editing software including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite software (Premier, After Effects, Photoshop)
- Ability to determine the best approach to assignments and collaborate with department and campus partners to see projects through to completion with little outside direction
- Ability to work some evenings for special events/award programs/productions as well as campus sponsored community events that may fall on a Saturday
- Ability to set up/breakdown video equipment, sound equipment, backdrop/light kits, and microphones for campus interview projects and headshot sessions as needed and as assigned
- Ability to set up portable sound booth and microphone for voiceover recordings by other talent as needed
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :
- Equipment used includes,PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment; Any specialized equipment typical to assigned functional area
- Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Associate degree or higher and at least 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Hiring salary range is $41,673 to $47,924.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
