Gilbertsville Farmhouse is a premier luxury wedding venue and private estate set on 125 acres in upstate New York. We specialize in multi-day, immersive wedding experiences where couples and their guests enjoy exclusive access to our property from Thursday or Friday through Sunday or Monday. Our family-run operation delivers white-glove service with warmth and personality, combining the sophistication of New York City with the soul of the Catskills.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hard-working Chef to join our fully operational kitchen team for the 2025 season. This role is essential to delivering the exceptional farm-to-table dining experiences our clients expect across three days of catered meals—from elegant rehearsal dinners to celebratory breakfasts to grand wedding receptions. You will be part of a passionate culinary team creating memorable meals in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where attention to detail and execution are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all aspects of multi-day wedding catering from prep through plated or family-style service
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night service
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain consistency and quality standards
  • Manage prep schedules and cooking timelines for overlapping events and meals
  • Maintain organized, clean, and efficient stations during high-volume service periods
  • Adapt to diverse menu requests including traditional American, South Asian, and specialized dietary programs
  • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and kitchen standards at all times
  • Support kitchen operations including receiving, storage, and inventory management

Requirements

  • Experience in catering is strongly preferred—this is high-volume, event-driven work with tight timelines
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong knife skills, cooking techniques, and understanding of kitchen operations as well as inventory and sanitation standards
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work long hours on your feet, including weekends (Thursday/Friday–Sunday/Monday)
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills in a dynamic event environment
  • Reliable transportation to our South New Berlin location
