This internship offers a rare opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with a wide variety of events- from large‑scale campus festivals to internal trainings and recreation‑based programs- while learning event production in state‑of‑the‑art facilities unlike traditional conference or hotel venues. Ideal for students pursuing a future in event management, hospitality, or recreation, this role provides robust professional development, leadership experience, and portfolio‑ready project work. The Scheduling & Events Summer Professional Intern plays a key role in supporting Rec Well’s event operations, scheduling processes, and major summer/fall programming. This position offers immersive, full life cycle event experience, from intake and planning to logistics coordination, to onsite execution and evaluation. The intern will assist in major initiatives including: Planning and executing Wisconsin Welcome signature events, such as the Bakke Block Party and Nick @ Night, which draw thousands of students. Supporting the July annual program submission intake, helping departments prepare fall and annual schedules, trainings, and programs. Documenting and updating the Scheduling & Events knowledge base & inventory tracking, strengthening internal workflows and operational consistency. Particular attention will be paid to student staff resources and structure in preparation for the Fall. Coordinating internal and external events, including training, recreation programs, and special events. Key Job Responsibilities: Coordinates logistics for events and programs Prepares and monitors budgets and purchases expenditures as needed Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring, training, and supervision Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum, all staff meetings, divisional committees, and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities.
