They are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to ensure the stability, performance, and security of their extensive SQL Server database ecosystem, which supports a high-availability SaaS platform. Responsibilities • Guarantee all data meets our RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) by performing and testing backup and restoration plans • Maintain the high reliability of our on-premise and arenaflex RDS/EC2 DB environments using proven SQL Server and/or AWS HA technologies (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Clustering) • Enforce and maintain robust database security policies to safeguard information against unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure • Continuously monitor database environments to ensure optimal performance. Assist with performance and tuning efforts by analysing database performance using various tools and monitors • Develop a strong understanding of our complex SaaS, multi-tenant, single-tenant, OLTP, and reporting database environments and their support processes within the cloud • Actively share information and learn key skills and processes from other data team members • Participate in the client Database On-Call Rotation • Actively diagnose database performance problems and collaborate with the development team to provide efficient solutions and technical guidance • Identify opportunities for process improvements and create automated solutions to streamline routine, time-consuming operational tasks • Streamline data team procedures and contribute to overall efficiency • Provide strategic suggestions/recommendations for design and code changes to improve application performance and end-user experience • Tune existing SQL procedures and DB indexes to maximize efficiency • Plan, collaborate on, and successfully complete projects with a high degree of ownership • Mentor and train new SQL Server Database Administrators on database support procedures • Create robust documentation for applications or processes where you are the Subject Matter Expert (SME), and actively cross-train other team members on these areas of expertise Skills • Core DBA Skills: Proven experience with managing, maintaining, and monitoring enterprise database systems • SQL Server Expertise: Experience implementing and supporting SQL Server 2016 through 2022 • Operating Systems: Extensive experience with arenaflex Windows and Linux Operating Systems • T-SQL Mastery: Strong grasp of T-SQL development, stored procedures, functions, and query optimization • High Availability (HA): Solid understanding and practical experience with SQL Server High Availability concepts (clustering, log shipping, AlwaysOn Availability Groups) • Scalability: Understanding of SQL Server database scalability concepts (partitioning, replication, compression) • Auditing & Reporting: Experience performing routine system audits and maintaining/reporting system performance statistics • Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including robust troubleshooting with a focus on preventative actions and utilizing tools like Wait Statistics • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL • Cloud: arenaflex cloud database technologies, Cloud Automation • Tools/Concepts: PowerShell, SSIS, Solarwinds DPA, Policy Based Management, Active Directory, VMWare, OLTP, DSS, OLAP, Data Archiving • Methodologies: Experience with Agile Methodologies Company Overview • CES is an information technology and business process management company.
