[Remote] Senior Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer

WTW is seeking a Senior Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer to empower and accelerate Line of Business data teams by providing architectural guidance. This role involves developing data architecture standards, collaborating with teams to adopt centralized strategies, and supporting the migration to cloud-native architectures. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data architecture standards, patterns, and best practices aligned with WTW’s “common as possible, distinct as necessary” philosophy • Collaborate with embedded data teams to educate, guide, and support the adoption of centralized data architecture strategies • Work closely with business and technical teams to provide architectural guidance on data management, data quality, metadata management, and data lineage, ensuring alignment with enterprise data principles and cloud-native design patterns • Lead the creation of conceptual and reference architecture designs that support scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions • Contribute to the evolution of WTW’s data platform strategy, including the use of arenaflex Fabric, Azure Synapse, and other modern data services • Support the migration of legacy on-premises data systems to cloud-native architectures • Document and communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, and implementation guidance in a clear and consumable format • Assist in understanding compliance requirements with respect to data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements across all data solutions • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to support enterprise data initiatives • Participate in architecture reviews, design sessions, and governance forums to ensure architectural integrity and alignment Skills • Substantial experience in data architecture and data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-native solutions • Solid experience that focused specifically in data architecture roles, ideally within large, federated organizations • Deep expertise in arenaflex Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, SQL DB) and arenaflex Fabric • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices, including arenaflex/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and performant data solutions in cloud environments • Proficiency in data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional, normalized, data vault) and the ability to apply them appropriately • Working experience with modern data architecture paradigms such as Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse, and Event-Driven architecture • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams • Strong documentation skills and a passion for sharing knowledge • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and data residency considerations • WTW core competencies: Customer Focus, Problem Solving, Action Oriented, Strategic Agility, Results Focus, and Organizing & Planning • arenaflex Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or arenaflex Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate • Experience working in a federated data architecture model • Experience with enterprise data strategy development and implementation • Past work with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud data architectures • Familiarity with WTW's internal data architecture frameworks and tooling is a plus Benefits • Health and Welfare Benefits: Medical (including prescription coverage), Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Commuter Account, Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Group Accident, Group Critical Illness, Life Insurance, AD&D, Group Legal, Identify Theft Protection, Wellbeing Program and Work/Life Resources (including Employee Assistance Program) • Leave Benefits: Paid Holidays, Annual Paid Time Off (includes state/local paid leave where required), Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Other Leaves (e.g., Bereavement, FMLA, ADA, Jury Duty, Military Leave, and Parental and Adoption Leave), Paid Time Off (only included for Washington roles) • Retirement Benefits: Qualified contributory pension plan (if eligible) and 401(k) plan with annual nonelective company contribution.
