Phone Nurse Triage Consultant

About the position The Telephone Triage Nurse at Gallagher is responsible for providing safe and effective telephone assessments, patient care instructions, and direction to the appropriate level of care. This role involves utilization management review of worker's compensation claims and accessing medical documentation to determine the appropriateness of treatment. The position is part-time, fully remote, and requires strong critical thinking and customer service skills. Responsibilities • Performing intake of phone calls from injured employees. • Completing telephonic health assessments and rendering appropriate health care advice. • Entering injured employee data into a medical triage database. • Conducting follow-up phone calls to injured employees for health reassessments when indicated. • Maintaining accurate records for all incoming calls, including interventions and follow-up instructions. • Actively participating in internal triage quality assessments, workflow enhancements, and procedure updates. • Maintaining telephonic nurse triage assessment and advice standards in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures. • Performing case reviews as needed for workers' compensation claims. • Assisting with special healthcare-related risk management projects as needed. Requirements • Associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing. • Minimum of 3 years acute clinical experience or similar position required. • Active unrestricted RN license in good standing within the state of Arizona or a member of the NLC. • Willingness to be licensed in states requiring same for Utilization Review. Nice-to-haves • Bachelor's degree. • Experience in Worker's Compensation or Utilization Review. • 3+ years related experience (preferred, e.g., telephone triage, urgent care, emergency department, triage, occupational health experience, orthopedics) with recent telephone or telehealth experience. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with heavy telephone triage intake. • Ability to work collaboratively with the team.
