What role you will play in our team

The Lubrication Engineer role is a home based position located in Louisiana or Mississippi. The Lubrication Engineer is responsible for executing engineering services, documeting customer value, defending the Mobil brand, and supporting profitable growth across industrial and commercial sectors. We are looking for a dynamic team player to support existing customers and new business pursuit by executing field engineering services to identify and document total cost of ownership opportunities. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor and coach to ExxonMobil's finished lubricants customers and distributors as you grow the Mobil brand and market position.

What you will do

  • Home-based office with frequent travel to customers and sales prospects within a defined sales territory
  • Represent ExxonMobil in interactions with Finished Lubricants customers and distributors
  • Apply safety best practices and tools to ensure safety and security when visiting third-party sites
  • Identify, execute and document cost savings opportunities to Finished Lubricants customers and prospects via lubrication solutions, plant studies, and value-added services
  • Improve brand experience through collaboration with customers, distributors, and internal marketing team
  • Lead root cause investigations and troubleshooting for lubricants, rotating equipment, and product integrity issues
  • Leverage ExxonMobil used oil analysis labs to provide critical equipment monitoring and in-depth investigation services
  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and resolve customer and prospect production and reliability issues
  • Document engineering reports for customers and prospects using ExxonMobil’s digital tools
  • Document proof-of-performance testimonials for successful engineering solutions
  • Leverage ExxonMobil’s digital tools to support the execution of engineering activities and lubrication recommendations
  • Conduct training for internal sales and technical employees, customers, and distributors on product knowledge, applications, and services

About You

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must live in or be flexible for relocation to Louisiana or Mississippi with home-base office setup
  • Ability to travel 50-60% of the time (regional travel, some overnights)
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial), Chemistry or related field
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent follow-up capability and multi-tasking ability
  • Strong problem-solving, technical acumen and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and adapting in dynamic environments
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments
  • Comfortable learning and using digital tools, including proactively seeking information to support solutions
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, with a strong ability to learn new tools and concepts proactively

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, and/or rotating equipment
  • 3-5+ years of experience in technical sales, preferably in lubricants, base oils, or chemicals
  • Strong technical understanding of lubrication systems, tribology, and fluid performance
  • Proven selling, persuasion and influence skills
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Mobility to Houston TX for future career opportunities
