Purpose:
For Academic Year , McCombs School of Business is looking for a high energy, strategic and growth minded student employee to provide support for Kendra Scott WELI.

The Kendra Scott Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KS WELI) at The University of Texas at Austin will strengthen the next generation of courageous, creative women leaders who will change the world — in business and beyond. The Programming Intern will play a critical role in supporting KS WELI programs and events, which are dedicated to empowering the next generation of creative and courageous early-stage founders. The intern will assist with the execution of program initiatives, including entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial workshops, speakers, community engagement, and event support. During the summer, this role will support summer orientations and contribute to planning and preparation for fall semester programming. This position provides hands-on experience in program coordination, event planning, and community building within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with the potential to continue into the 2026–2027 academic year based on performance and program needs.

Responsibilities:

Program & Operations Skills

  • Experience creating and supporting processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective execution of programs, events, and orientations
  • Ability to think critically, assess situations, and propose practical solutions in fast-paced, live-program environments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within an identified timeline

Communication & Writing

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages for a variety of audiences
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills; attention to tone, clarity, and accuracy is required
  • Professional, respectful, and responsive communicator (responses expected within 24 hours)

Technology & Tools

  • Experience with Canva, Eventbrite, Slack, and other digital platforms preferred
  • Comfort learning and navigating new software and systems; technology fluency across platforms is critical
  • Proficiency with Canva, Eventbrite, and Airtable preferred

Professional Readiness

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with interns and staff
  • Strong administrative skills, including task tracking, documentation, and follow-through
  • Respectful, reliable, and accountable in a team-based environment

Entrepreneurial Interest

  • Strong interest in or understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the venture ecosystem

Eligibility & Time Commitment

  • Available to work 10–15 hours per week during the semester and support KS WELI orientations and programming throughout the summer
  • Typical work hours are between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST, with occasional evenings for orientations and events
  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Work-study award for the semester preferred but not required

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience creating or supporting processes and procedures for the efficient execution of programs and events

  • Interest in or foundational understanding of the entrepreneurial and venture ecosystem; willingness to learn required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Box, and project management tools such as and Notion
  • Available to work 10–15 hours per week during the summer, typically between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM CST, with potential evenings
  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Work-study award preferred but not required

Hourly Rate:

  • $10+

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.

Schedule Work Shift:

  • 10-15 hours per week

  • Must be available to consistently work evenings
  • Rehire eligible based on performance.
