Housekeeping

Are you someone who enjoys fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and being part of a hardworking, adventure-loving team? If you’re looking for more than a typical housekeeping job — and want a summer filled with unforgettable scenery and meaningful work — we invite you to join us at Orca Island Cabins.

We are a family-owned and operated business run by longtime Alaskans who live and work on the water. Our remote eco-retreat sits nine miles south of Seward and is accessible only by boat, turning even the commute into an experience. Staff travel by vessel across Resurrection Bay, where wildlife sightings and breathtaking views are simply part of the workday.

In addition to our island property, our housekeeping team also supports several guest properties located within Seward. Work locations rotate, offering variety throughout the season and the chance to experience both island and town settings.

🌊 The Opportunity

This seasonal role runs May through September and — unlike many hospitality jobs in Seward — offers consistent full-time hours throughout the summer season.

Housekeeping plays a vital role in creating the welcoming, comfortable experience our guests remember long after their trip ends. Your attention to detail and pride in your work directly shape each guest’s stay.

✨ Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and preparing guest cabins and accommodations to high hospitality standards

  • Rotating between island properties and Seward-based rentals

  • Restocking supplies and reporting inventory needs

  • Identifying and communicating maintenance concerns

  • Working efficiently both independently and as part of a supportive team

  • Helping maintain the warm, welcoming atmosphere our guests value

🏡 Housing & Lifestyle

Finding seasonal housing in Seward can be nearly impossible — but we’ve secured accommodations exclusively for our staff.

  • Shared, subsidized employee housing available only to team members

  • Most work locations are within walking distance of housing

  • Bicycles available for staff use

  • Limited public transportation options in town

  • Transportation to and from work is the responsibility of employees

As a family-run company, we believe work should also be an experience. We strive to create a positive, supportive environment where staff feel valued, included, and part of something special.

✅ Applicants Must
  • Lift and carry at least 50 lbs

  • Walk while carrying supplies across uneven terrain and boardwalks

  • Be comfortable working on and around boats

  • Possess strong communication skills and a guest-focused attitude

  • Enjoy working in an active, outdoor-oriented environment

🌲 Come live, work, and play in one of the most beautiful places in the country — and, in our opinion, on the planet.

If you’re ready for a summer filled with ocean air, mountain views, and a team that feels like family, we’d love to welcome you aboard.
