Position: Golf Course Mechanic

Skaneateles Country Club is seeking a motivated and dependable Equipment Mechanic to join our golf course maintenance team. While golf course experience is preferred, we are primarily looking for someone with strong mechanical ability who is eager to learn and grow within the golf industry.

This position offers a unique opportunity to train under our current Head Mechanic with the goal of developing into that leadership role following the 2026 golf season. We are committed to providing the proper training and mentorship to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment, from backpack blowers to tractors
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all golf course equipment
  • Grind and maintain reels and bedknives
  • Set up mowing equipment to ensure proper cut quality and course conditioning
  • Maintain service records and assist with parts inventory
  • Learn how equipment setup directly impacts golf course playability and turf performance

Our fleet is primarily John Deere, along with several other manufacturers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience repairing small engines and/or heavy equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to learn reel grinding and precision setup
  • Interest in understanding how equipment performance affects golf course conditions
  • Ability to adapt to changing seasonal demands
  • Positive attitude and desire to grow professionally

Schedule

  • Approximately 40 hours per week during the winter
  • Increased workload and hours during the golf season (spring through fall)

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
