Position: Elementary Classroom Teacher
MVSU uses Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching and Vermont’s Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities to guide professional practice. As an elementary teacher here, you’ll bring learning to life through thoughtful planning, a supportive classroom environment, skillful instruction, and strong professional engagement.
Essential Responsibilities
Planning & Preparation
Design engaging lessons using MVSU curriculum, Vermont Standards, Grade Level Expectations, and the Common Core.
Demonstrate strong content knowledge and effective pedagogy.
Understand each student’s background, skills, and interests—and plan instruction that responds to them.
Use research-based strategies, models, and resources.
Create assessments aligned with instructional goals, use data to inform instruction, and provide timely feedback.
Integrate technology to enhance learning.
The Classroom Environment
Build a classroom culture grounded in respect, rapport, and belonging.
Create a safe space where students feel confident taking risks and exploring ideas.
Cultivate excitement for learning and encourage students to take ownership of their success.
Provide opportunities for higher-order thinking and meaningful engagement.
Instruction
Communicate clear expectations, directions, and explanations.
Engage students in rigorous, meaningful learning throughout each lesson.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; at least one year of related experience preferred.
Strong understanding of child development and effective classroom practices.
Solid knowledge of academic content; strong reading, writing, and math skills.
Proficiency with basic computer tools, including Google Workspace.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with children or adolescents.
Ability to attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development activities.
Licensure & Certification
Valid Vermont Educator License with appropriate Elementary endorsement.
Criminal background clearance.
