The Opportunity As a Data Operations Engineer (Database Administrator), you will design, maintain, and optimize database systems to ensure performance at scale and data security. Your role will involve troubleshooting issues, implementing industry best practices, and developing automation solutions. You will be joining a passionate team that continually pushes the boundaries of technology. Work-Life This role is 100% remote with an optional work environment at our Santa Monica office, located on the 3rd Street Promenade. Most teams run West Coast Hours with lots of autonomy. At this time we are only able to hire US Citizens or active US Green Card holders Required Skills and Qualifications: • 5+ years of professional DB Administration experience • Experience as a Database Administrator, specializing in MySQL (Aurora), PostgreSQL and/or Couchbase at scale. • Solid understanding of managing databases for large-scale websites. • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills regarding query optimization and performance optimization. • Familiarity with high availability solutions such as replication, routers, and proxies. • Experience with zero-downtime deployment procedures. • Strong understanding of monitoring and alerting requirements. • Demonstrable expertise in administering Linux-based systems. • Methodical troubleshooting skills, capable of identifying and applying fixes for known issues, with the ability to think creatively when addressing complex challenges. • Excellent collaboration skills within engineering teams, with the capacity to work independently on projects. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with keen attention to detail. • Highly energetic, self-motivated, and driven by a strong work ethic Preferred Skills & Qualifications: • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform. • NoSQL experience including: Redis, Graph DBs such as Neo4j and arenaflex Neptune, and AWS cloud services. • In-depth knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL. • Scripting and a strong will to automate. • Experience with schema versioning tools such as Flyway and Skeema The Perks: • Salary Range $130,000 - $180,000 + Bonus + Equity • 100% Remote with Hybrid Optional • Paid Health Benefits ($0 Premiums) • Dental, Vision, Life plans • Open Vacation • 401k (50% match up to 3%) • Paid Equipment • Education Stipend • Paid Holidays & Birthdays Off • Parental Leave • Team Offsites / Events • Ticket hookups!
