AI/ML Engineer and Project Manager

This is a part-time 20 hours / week, $70/hour on 1099. Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile professional to serve as both an AI/ML Engineer and Project Manager, responsible for designing and implementing machine learning solutions while leading cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven projects on time and within scope. This role bridges technical expertise with strategic execution, ensuring that AI initiatives align with business goals and deliver measurable impact. AI/ML Engineering • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI systems tailored to business needs. • Conduct data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, training, and evaluation. • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to integrate models into production environments. • Monitor model performance and retrain/update models as needed. • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML technologies and recommend innovative solutions. Project Management • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle for AI/ML initiatives, from ideation to deployment. • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements. • Coordinate cross-functional teams including data science, engineering, product, and business stakeholders. • Manage risks, dependencies, and change requests to ensure successful project delivery. • Communicate project status, milestones, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML development and deployment. • 3+ years of experience in project management, preferably in tech or data-driven environments. • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Orange, and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure). • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps). • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification. • Experience with MLOps and bolthires/CD pipelines for ML. • Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and ethical AI practices. • Prior experience in a hybrid technical-managerial role.
